LA: 2017 Preseason All-State: Third Team Selections

The 2017 season is right around the corner, and Prep Baseball Report Louisiana has already begun unveiling its Preseason Power 25. Releasing a team a day, up until the start of the 2017 high school season.

Today, we begin unveiling our Preseason All-State Teams, starting with the Third-Team selections. Next Tuesday we will release the Second-Team, and the following Tuesday, we will release the First-Team selections, as well as, the Player and Pitcher Of The Year.

Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will be scouting high school games all spring, gathering scouting notes and posting game stories of those we attend. Schedules are coming in from all over the state of Louisiana, make sure to send yours in, email them to [email protected].

Let’s take a look at the Preseason All-State Third-Team Selections:

Pitcher

+ Cullen Pharris, RHP, DeQuincy, 2019
Louisiana State recruit, currently ranked No. 3 in Louisiana’s 2019 class, No. 57 Overall. A 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-handed pitcher with a large, strong frame. Long, in-line arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 83-87 mph with tilt in the strike zone and solid control at times. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with spin, depth, occasional sharp break and fastball arm speed at 69-71 mph. Also shows a changeup with fastball arm speed and arm side run at 81-82 mph.
