2018 Area Code Games: Friday Notebook

LONG BEACH, CA—The upperclass portion of the 2018 Area Code Games concluded Friday and both California teams played twice. That allowed us to get heavy dose of OF Pete Crow-Armstrong (Harvard-Westlake HS, CA), who was 3-for-6 with three doubles and two runs scored across the two games for the Brewers. In his first at-bat of the day, he flicked a ball down the right field, but was slow out of the box, as he thought he had fouled the ball off. He then chopped a ball through the right side and didn’t break stride, rounding first and reaching second for a hustle double. It looked like he was tagged out, but he was ruled safe. He grounded into a fielder’s choice in his final at-bat of the first game, coming around to score on a single. In the second game, he started with a groundout to first. He squared up a flyout to center in his next at-bat and then finished things off with another double, this one squared up to right-center field.

Here are some more highlights from Friday’s action…
