2018 Super 60 Highlights

On Sunday, about 150 scouts found themselves outside Chicago to see the 2018 Super 60. It was arguably the best roster ever for the event, in its 16th year, and the players did nothing to disappoint everyone in attendance. We went in depth about some standout performances on a podcast and there will be a Coffee and Curveballs episode dedicated to the event, as well as reports on everyone.

For The Hotlist, we take a look at a few specific highlights and individual moments that captured everyone’s attention. The best place to start is actually with a catch made by one of our own staff members. Ben Grossberg is our video guru. He is a wizard at editing player videos from events—he had everyone from the Super 60 up in 24 hours—and he is the making Coffee and Curveballs look good every week. While running one of the cameras during BP, he saw a ball go straight up, hit the roof and come right back toward him and our photographer. He reached above her head and caught the ball like he had done it a million times. The incident was caught on camera and has gone viral in the baseball world, being featured on mlb.com, and MLB Network’s Hot Stove and Intentional Talk. It was a worthy moment. See for yourself…

Now, on to the player highlights. We saw some exceptional arm strength from position players. OF Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West HS, WI) was mostly 95-96 mph from the outfield…
