OVERVIEW:

The Crimson Tide received a commitment from the highly sought after Prielipp late this summer to really give the class the boost that it needed on the pitching side. Prielipp is still developing on the mound, but his low-90s, sinking fastball and sharp curveball are already above average pitches with the potential for even more. Abrams, a potential first-round draft pick, is one of the most exciting players in amateur baseball, and while his frame is still gaining strength, his skills and athleticism are advanced. Austin is long, lean, and oozes projection. The right-handed hitter showcases some current power to the pull side, and is versatile enough to play anywhere on the diamond as well as hop the mound to run a fastball into the low 90s. Imposing hitters, Denton and Diodati have the potential to develop into feared, middle-of-the-order power bats. Denton’s fluid stroke and aggressive approach from both sides of the plate stands out right now, and Diodati’s flat path and easy lag in the zone make him a threat to drive the ball to all fields.

GUT FEEL:

Keller held his commitment with the staff change over a year ago, and the new staff is likely very glad that he did. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound infielder likely projects as a third baseman in Tuscaloosa, and his steady ascent as a prospect has a chance to make a big jump while on campus. A right-handed hitter, Keller has gap-to-gap power that should increase even more as he continues to fill out, and the confident hands that he currently shows off at shortstop should translate well to third base.

CLASS KEYS:

Development. Prielipp blossoming into an ace in the SEC would be huge. A guy who can match up with anybody’s top starter every Friday night is vital in college baseball. This class is filled with plenty of upside players, who, the quicker they realize their talent, will help to carry the team.
