2020 Simul-Draft Preview

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

Originally started two years ago, Draft HQ selected prospects in real time during both the 2018 and 2019 MLB Drafts. And now, it's almost time to do it again.

The 2020 MLB Draft will take place June 10-11. The first day will start at 6:00 p.m. CT and consist of the first round and Competitive Balance Round A—the first 37 picks. The second through fifth rounds (123 picks) will begin at 4:00 p.m. CT on June 11.

After assigning ourselves the 15th overall bonus pool ($8.46M) in 2018 and 10th overall pool ($10.3M) in 2019 we will make selections with the 20th highest pool ($6.65M) this year. We will pick directly behind the Cubs each round. Moving forward to 2021 in an effort to balance out our pool and selections over the four year period, we plan to have the 5th highest pool.

Again, it's important to note, each of our picks were made in real time as the draft was happening. This is not a mock or a post-draft of best available.

How did we do in 2019? Our first rounder was CJ Abrams (Blessed Trinity Catholic HS, GA) followed by Josh Smith (LSU). Check out our remaining selections here > 2ND ANNUAL SIMUL-DRAFT

In 2018 we chose Matt Liberatore (Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) with our first pick and Alek Thomas (Mount Carmel HS, IL) with our second. The remainder of our selections which includes some pretty interesting mid-later round prospects is here > 1ST ANNUAL SIMUL-DRAFT

Please join us Wednesday on twitter at @PBR_DraftHQ to follow along with our picks in real time.
