2021 Follows: IL-MA-MN-MI-WI

This week, On the Hunt takes a look at another group of northern, uncommitted 2021 players with high ceilings. The list includes potential power arms, power bats, athletic infielders, a catcher, and a two-way prospect.

Logan Landers RHP / 1B / Brookfield Academy, WI / 2021

Sporting some defined strength, especially in the lower-half of his towering, 6-foot-8, 220-pound frame, Landers’ imposing presence on the mound stands out in any class, but especially amongst the young 2021’s. The big right-hander was up to 87 mph in a preseason PBR Wisconsin bullpen, and will likely be up even higher this summer as his arm gets into shape in the peak-season for midwest recruits. Delivering out of a higher ¾ slot and creating a downward angle, he showcases the ability to drive the fastball to the bottom of the zone. The arm action remains relatively compact, especially given his long limbs, and works with continuous movement. His breaking ball was thrown a bit softer (67-69) in the early bullpen session, but the feel for spin is there in that it took proper shape with tighter spin and was thrown for strikes. As he continues to get his arm in shape throughout the spring and summer, I suspect the velocity will creep up a few ticks, and the potential for a firm, sharp slider is in there. He also flashes a developing changeup at 75-80 with some faded action. Overall, Landers ability to athletically repeat his delivery and arm slot stand out right now, and he could make a big jump in the near future.
