2021 Simul-Draft Preview

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

First created three years ago, Draft HQ selected prospects in REAL time during the 2018, 2019 & 2020 MLB Drafts. And now, it's almost time to do it again.

The 2021 MLB Draft will take place July 11-13. The first day, Sunday, will start at 6:00 p.m. CT and consist of the first 36 picks. Day Two begins Monday at Noon CT with the start of the second round and will continue through the completion of Round 10. The Draft concludes with rounds 11-20 on Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m. CT.

After assigning ourselves the 15th overall bonus pool ($8.46M) in 2018 and 10th overall pool ($10.3M) in 2019 we made our selections with the 20th highest pool ($6.65M) in 2020. This year we have the 5th highest bonus pool ($11.36m) and will pick directly behind the Red Sox each round. Moving forward to 2022 in an effort to balance our pool and selections over the five year period, we plan to have the 25th highest pool.

Again, it's important to note, each of our picks were made in real time as the draft was happening. This is not a mock or a post-draft of best available. It is in REAL time.

How did we do in 2020? Check it out here >>> 2020 SIMUL-DRAFT

2019? Our first rounder was CJ Abrams (Blessed Trinity Catholic HS, GA) followed by Josh Smith (LSU). Check out our remaining selections here > 2019 SIMUL-DRAFT

In 2018 we chose Matt Liberatore (Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) with our first pick and Alek Thomas (Mount Carmel HS, IL) with our second. The remainder of our selections which includes some pretty interesting mid-later round prospects, including current Detroit Tiger Tarik Skubal, is here > 2018 SIMUL-DRAFT
