2022 Arms For Spring

The spring season is getting ready to kick into gear, and On the Hunt has a collection of uncommitted 2022 arms that are likely to be followed closely throughout the high school season and into the summer. Each one showcases the potential to continue as a starter at the next level, and could all make significant jumps in the near future.

Eli Gennis RHP / SS / Berkeley , CA / 2022The polish and pitchability that Gennis displays at a young age are clearly advanced, and will only help aid in his continued development down the line. Listed at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Gennis sports a more compact, athletic frame with a loose, continuous arm stroke that allows him to deliver fastballs up to 86 mph with normal effort out front. The fastball is efficiently spun, and is already garnering swings and misses with some late life through the zone at 84-86, and given his young frame, could see a more significant jump as he continues maturing. Gennis’ ability to spin a sharp, 11/5 breaking ball at 68-72 for strikes both in and out of the zone along with feel for a faded, 80 mph changeup will clearly help him continue as a starter at the next level. Even more intriguing about Gennis, at this point, is the mound presence that he exhibits. He is confident in his plan for attacking each hitter and expects to succeed. Overall, Gennis is a pitcher that college coaches will want to get eyes on sooner rather than later.
