Caleb Barnett 3B / RHP / Mountain Brook, AL / 2025Barnett asserted himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the class thanks to a host of unteachable attributes. A true 6-foot-6, 211-pounds, the frame is hardly close to being fully developed and stands to add significant strength in coming years. That in itself is astounding given the fact that he bolted exit velocities up to 109 mph at a recent Prep Baseball Alabama event and averaged nearly 100 mph at the Super 60 with a max distance of 400 feet. He also consistently found the barrel with a sweet spot rate of 92%, which placed him second overall at the event. The ball came off the bat different for Barnett, and even in an event filled with pristine prospects, the whip and sound of his barrel was noticeably different. Tightly connected, even with long limbs, the hands work down and back into a semi deeper position that provides for a quick turn on a flat path exuding endless residency of the barrel in the zone. He unleashes both bat strength and bat speed with each swing. There is flick present and his ability to adjust and change planes was noticeable even in a batting practice presence. Fluidly athletic, his innate glovework and confident hands allowed for a relaxed look defensively, and as a two-way collegiate prospect with a low 90s fastball, there is obviously enough arm strength to stick on the left side, especially given the ability to throw from all angles. A gut pick to buzz his way into an earlier Day 1 pick, Barnett is a bat to follow closely this spring.
