Alabama Scout Blog: Week 9 Games

+ THURSDAY, APRIL 20TH

+ OF/LHP Aiden Craven (Chelsea, 2026) made an early impression on our staff last summer playing with Team Alabama at the PBR Jr. Future Games, where it was easy to see he was a gamer-type prospect that plays with a competitive edge to him. Over the past couple of weeks of the high school season, the freshman has been inserted into the Hornets’ lineup near the bottom of the order and has delivered consistent production so far in limited at-bats. Although a bit undersized right now still in his early prep years, Craven plays with an edge and isn’t scared of the big moment while being inserted into their lineup in a crucial part of their season with a playoff spot on the line. The left-handed hitter turned in two strong swings in three of his at-bats during yesterday’s contest, with one going for a lineout to center field and the other being a leadoff single to the pull-side in his next at-bat. Craven has hitter-ish tendencies with the ability to cover all parts of the plate with strong bat-to-ball skills and uses the whole field in his approach. He has a quick first step out of the box, and fits the mold of a future top-of-the-order hitter being a tough out and using his speed to his advantage. He will be a good prospect in the freshman class in AL to follow over the next few years.
