PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is proud to welcome Zach Day to our team. A true pioneer of baseball’s data revolution over the past decade with 12 years of professional baseball experience, Day’s role of Senior Advisor will further widen Prep Baseball Report’s footprint across several high-level initiatives.

Simply put, Day is the foremost expert in ball-flight data and how it relates to on-field performance.

Day comes to the Prep Baseball Report from TrackMan, where he worked for 13 years in several capacities. Starting in 2008, Day served as the baseball subject matter expert and liaison between business concept and MLB teams, helping develop and explain the importance of the data in player development and scouting. He worked with analysts to discover new actionable insights on spin, movement, vertical approach angle and optimize offerings.

Day also helped expand TrackMan into the Asian and NCAA market, as he managed the US and Asia sales pipeline while actively managing 80-plus accounts and adding partnerships throughout 85 percent of Major League Stadiums in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Zach to our family,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “There isn’t a person on the planet who knows more about ball-flight data and its applications to correlate with predictive on-field performance. Zach Day is a titan in the industry, a rare person who has achieved at the highest levels of baseball, and then helped pioneer an entire industry after his playing career. He is an out-of-the-box thinker with a perfect blend of next-level intelligence and practical business sense.

“His presence at Prep Baseball Report instantly makes us better, and I am grateful he is on our team.”

Prior to his career at TrackMan, Day pitched professionally for 12 years. Drafted in the fifth round out of high school by the Yankees, Day’s professional playing career included stints with the Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins and Mexico.

Now, Day brings his wealth of experience and expertise to Prep Baseball Report’s scouting, event and media platforms, which will benefit players, coaches and scouts alike.

“Technology is a tool, but tools are only as good as the users,” said Day. “With such a strong foundation locally and nationally, PBR has the talent to take advantage of technology in baseball at the amatuer level. I couldn't be more excited to join PBR and such a talented group that works tirelessly to give every baseball player a shot to reach their next level with a commitment to delivering a great baseball experience.”
