Area Code Games: Monday Notebook

EMERSON, GA—The Area Code Games started Thursday at LakePoint and Friday featured the first games. Follow the action on social media and stay tuned for more coverage after the event. Here are some highlights from Monday’s action…

A lengthy weather delay hit the Area Code Games early Monday afternoon, which pushed the final two upperclass games (Nationals vs. White Sox, Rangers vs. Yankees) into the evening so they were played simultaneously. That made for a wild finish, as several big arms were still supposed to throw. They didn’t disappoint with their stuff, but several hitters made their presence known as well..

From earlier in the day...

Reds (3) vs. Brewers (8)

SS Carson Williams (Torrey Pines HS, CA) flashed the leather early in the day, preventing a couple runs from scoring.

C/RHP Josh Randall (Capistrano Valley Christian Academy, CA) showed his two-way ability, making some strong contact at the plate and then hopping on the mound for an inning. Like he did the other day, SS Chase Valentine (Sandra Day O’Connor HS, AZ) made a nice defensive play and drove a double to the right-center field gap.

Royals (5) vs. Athletics (5)

2022 C Malcolm Moore (McClatchy HS, CA) was called up from the underclass team and didn’t miss a beat.

Idaho doesn’t exactly churn out prospects on the regular, but OF Ben Ford (Eagle HS, ID) and a couple others will be on follow lists for 2021.
