Arkansas Preseason All State Infield Breakdown

Josh Powell: SS/RHP, (2024) Russellville, AR. 5-foot-7, 122-pound slim frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 70 mph. Starts in a balanced stance with a quick load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. Used a level swing plane. Up the middle approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 61 mph across the field; had soft hands. Had a high ¾ slot with compact arm action. He clocked a 60 time of 8.36 at the event.

Starts in a balanced stance, has a quick load and uses a toe tap to initiate his swing. Has a flat swing plane and has high finish. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 72 mph across the field; has soft hands and smooth footwork. Movements laterally were athletic. Showed a short arm action with an-over-the-top slot.  

Ben Baker, Shiloh Christian, 2022, AR

Body: 5-foot-8, 160-pound lean frame

Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, quick load, toe tap stride. High finish, flat swing. 

Power: 82  mph exit velocity. 

Defense: 72 infield velocity. Soft hands, smooth footwork. 

Brayden Anderson: SS/RHP, (2021) Valley View, AR. 5-foot-9, 145-pound lean frame. He clocked a 60 time of 7.41 at the event. In the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. Begins in an open stance, has a smooth load and uses a long stride right before his swing. Exhibits a flat swing plane and has high finish. Barreled up some balls throughout his round. Line drive approach. In the infield, recorded position velocities up to 73 mph; has soft hands. Showed a high ¾ slot and a long arm action.

Ethan Fender: 2B/OF, (2022) Harber, AR. 5-foot-10, 170-pound lean frame. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 7.31. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 90 mph. Begins in a strong open  stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick before his swing. Exhibits an uphill swing plane and extension on his finish. Found some barrels in his round. Up the middle approach. In the infield, showed his ability to throw 80 mph across the diamond; had athletic footwork, sure hands and a twitchy exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic. Showed a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag.

Hit: RHH. Strong open stance, smooth load, leg kick stride. Extension on his finish, uphill swing. 

Power: 90  mph exit velocity.  up the middle approach. 

Defense: 80 infield velocity. Twitchy exchange, sure hands, athletic footwork. 

Arm: RH. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
