PBR's staff continues to flood the state of North Carolina with coverage.  While dodging rain and cancellation, PBR scouts filed these reports below.

Garner Edges Clayton

Clayton got things started early in the first with one out.  Clay Clinard (2021) roped a double deep to CF, and scored on a Sac Fly from Triston Roney (2020).  Clayton later increased its lead with Canard walking and scoring on back to back errors. 

Garner scored its first run in the bottom of the 4thHarrison Garner (2021)  got things started with a single and then stole second.  A flair to center by Jackson Mitchell (2020, Catawba commit) scored Garner.  In the 5th, Garner plated a run when Jackson Lucas (2023) struck out, but reached on an error.  Addison Norris SAC bunted Lucas to second.  Pinch hitter Michael Redd (2020) tied the game with a single, scoring Lucas.  

In the 6th, Clayton threatened but had a baserunner cut down at third by Harrison Garner from the OF. 

Garner won the game in the bottom of the 7th with a walk off walk.  The game winning walk and RBI was recorded by Kaden Brown (2020).  The innings saw 4 walks total.  Bryson Galloway (2021) notched the win for Garner and Josh Erpenbeck (2020) took loss for the Comets, throwing well in a complete game effort.

 

Cannon Shuts Out Greensboro Day

Tim Watson didn't allow a single run against Greensboro Day School, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Cannon Cougars Varsity to a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.  Cannon got things moving in the first inning, when David Boisvert drew a walk, and later scored. 

Watson got the win for allowing one hit over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.  Rush Bowman took the loss for Greensboro Day. He surrendered three runs on one hit over four innings, striking out seven.

Zach Kellman went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Cannon.  The Cougars stole eight bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Reid Bertram led the way with three.

 

Glenn Arms Stymie Northwest Guilford

Glenn defeated Northwest Guilford 6-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Glenn secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The big fifth was keyed by a walk by Hayden Ridenhour and a home run by Nolan Blake.

Duncan Howard was the winning pitcher for Glenn Bobcats. He allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out ten and walking zero. Ridenhour threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Gavin Mortenson took the loss for Northwest Guilford. He allowed three hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

The Bobcats launched two home runs on the day. Along with Blake, Howard went yard in the fifth inning as well.  Glenn collected six hits on the day. Blake and Eli Cardwell all had multiple hits in the win.

 

Ingle Shines in No-No

Coby Ingle was brilliant on the hill on Wednesday, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Rockingham County past Person 5-0.  The Senior righty went the distance punching 13 without allowing a hit, walk, or run. 

Rockingham gave Ingle all he would need in the first inning on a Lucas Cain SAC Fly.  Up 2-0, the Cougars would add two more in the 2nd

Jedd Whitefield took the loss for Person.  He worked into the 2nd inning giving up three hits and four runs.

Rockingham County Cougars Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Lucas Cain's sac fly scored one run for Rockingham County Cougars Varsity.

Ingle took the win for Rockingham County Cougars Varsity. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out 13 and walking zero.

Jedd Whitefield took the loss for Person. He surrendered four runs on three hits over one and two-thirds innings.

At the plate, Mitchell Allen led Rockingham with 2 hits, also tallying a RBI.

 

Corinth Holders Big Over DH Conley

Corinth Holders Pirates Varsity defeated DH Conley 10-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Matt Poole finished with a strikeout, giving him and game winner Matt Kelley 10 on the night.

The Pirates got the party started in the 1st off of Conley Ace Matthew Matthijs.  A single from Ty Cummings scored Tanner Smith.  Cummings would later score on a passed ball. 

Corinth Holders put the game away in the sixth inning. Nick Earp, Landon Ginn, and Nick Tyler all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Matt Kelley led things off on the hill for Corinth Holders Pirates Varsity. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out eight and walking zero.  Matthijs took the loss for Conley, working four innings, giving up four runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, while punching 5.

Corinth Holders scattered seven hits in the game. Kelley and Cummings each had multiple hits.  Gideon Simms led the Pirates with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths tallying ten stolen bases as a team on the night.
