Braxton Davidson (NC) Returns To Cary For 2014 NHSI

Throughout the summer and fall last year, 1B/OF Braxton Davidson (Roberson HS, NC) did everything he could to establish himself as one of, if not the, top hitters in the 2014 draft class. He hit three home runs at USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars, one of which came off flame-throwing RHP Tyler Kolek (Shepherd HS, TX), and was earning that distinction. However, he went 1-for-15 at the World Wood Bat Championship in October and had scouts scratching their heads. He did draw eight walks, but seemed to be passive at the plate and fouling off pitches he should have been squaring up.

Davidson has put that behind him, along with some weight. He’s noticeably leaner this spring and is ready to show scouts that he still belongs in the top hitter discussion. With Roberson’s trip to Cary, NC, this week for the 2014 USA Baseball National High School Invitational, it’ll be Davidson third trip to the National Training Complex in a year between the 2013 NHSI, Tournament of Stars and 2014 NHSI.
