PBR Canada Collegiate Performers of the Week
Every week, we'll highlight one hitter and one pitcher to be our PBR Canada Collegiate Players of the Week which is powered by Mizuno. This is the third week and we already have a repeat winner in Damiano Palmegiani of Southern Nevada.
THE OFFENSIVE SIDE

DAMIANO PALMEGIANI 3B / OF / VAUXHALL ACADEMY, BC / 2018Background: Palmegiani took home Offensive College Player of the Week back in week one when he blasted two home runs for nationally ranked College of Southern Nevada. The Surrey, B.C. native has been on a tear to begin the 2021 season following a transfer from CSUN as he’s batting .425 with seven home runs, four doubles and seven walks through 12 games. Performance: The long ball was working again this week for Palmegiani as he blasted four home runs over the weekend while adding one double. The Coyotes outfielder/third baseman crossed the plate ten times over the four games and picked up eight RBI’s. If you look even earlier into the past week, Palmegiani hit another home run in a midweek affair against Colorado Northwestern. Saying Palmegiani is hot right now would be an understatement. Brady Cappe RHP / Assumption college, ON / 2016Background: Cappe is a big, burly right-hander out of the Ontario Blue Jays program in 2016 and spent his first two collegiate seasons at Lakeland Community College. The Waterford, Ont. native spent his junior year with the University of Pikeville where he appeared in 17 games, pitching 35.1 innings. With his 6-foot-3, 240-pound frame, there’s always looked to be more in the tank for Cappe and it looks like he’s beginning to tap into that here in 2021. Performance: Cappe’s first start of the year could very well be the best of his college career as he looked to have control of the strike zone on point as he walked only 1 while punching out 10. It was the first win of the year for Lindsey Wilson and Cappe held the opponents to just one unearned run while allowing four hits over his seven innings of work. A very nice way to kick off the '21 season for Cappe. STAT LINE: 7.0 IP (CG), 0 ER, 4 H, 10 K, 1 BB |
