Cincinnati Next Stop For British Columbia Native

AURORA - The tour of North America continues for Chase Stewart.

The Abbotsford, British Columbia native has committed to attend Cincinnati after just completing his second year at North Iowa Area Community College.

“In the fall of this past season I had some offers but I wanted to wait until spring,” Stewart explained what led to his recruitment by Cincinnati. “After the season, I decided to come to Ohio where our pitching coach in junior college was a throwing trainer. I came to train instead of playing summer ball.”

A little more than a week ago Stewart “threw for a handful of schools” at PPA in Aurora where he trains.

“The phone blew up,” noted Stewart, with Elon, Dayton, Washington, Lipscomb and Gardner Webb among those showing an interest in the right-handed pitcher. But it was an offer from Cincinnati that stood out for Stewart.

“Within 24 hours I committed to Cincinnati,” Stewart said. “Washington was close to home, so I was definitely interested in that. But the offer from Cincinnati was too good to turn down.”

A fastball reaching 94 mph was not the only thing that stood out to schools in attendance watching the 5-11 175-pounder.
