The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Colorado consistently produces a few draft prospects each year, most of which are typically arms. However, the 2015 class has hitters overshadowing pitchers with three of the top four prospects being position players. The top prospect, SS Nick Shumpert (Highlands Ranch HS, CO), has major league bloodlines. His father, Terry, was drafted in the second round in 1987 and spent 13 seasons in the big leagues.

Top Prospects

1. Nick Shumpert, SS, Highlands Ranch HS, CO
Between his the summer before his junior year and last summer, Shumpert did well to get in better shape, slimming down from a stocky frame to a lean 6 feet, 180 pounds.
