Commitment Trends III

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

Very often, the third chapter in a trilogy is neat and tidy, closing story lines but lacking in any real drama.  As we hit the third installment of our study on Commitment Trends, we may have fallen directly into the trilogy trap.

In August we took our first look at the 2018, 2019, and 2020 classes to see how the recruiting process for each class would trend throughout the school year.  Again in November, just after the early signing period, we took another look.  Now in April, as the late signing period has begun, we will check in again.

In August roughly 32% of the reported commitments from 2017, had committed from the 2018 class, across the PBR platform.  The number jumped, as expected, to 59% after the early signing period.  While diving into the numbers we also took a dive into several individual states, across PBR, to see how several different regions reacted to the different time check points.
