JUCO Mid-year Transfers

PBR Staff

Throughout the offseason, our JUCO staff keeps a watchful eye on the NCAA Transfer Portal to see which prospects are making the move to the NJCAA. In the chart below we've listed the more than 25 prospects who are trading uniforms ahead of the 2020 spring season.

The most notable transfer might just be RHP Jack Neely (Churchill, TX, 2018), who's moving for one JUCO to another. He's swapping San Jacinto JC, TX for Iowa Western CC after initially transferring from Texas following his freshman season. Neely was a top-100-ranked prep in 2018 class. He attended to the prestigious Super 60 and was one of the top arms in attendance at the event. Entering the JUCO ranks for his sophomore campaign, he's among the highest ranked junior college arms heading into this June's MLB Draft. Neely is a 6-foot-9 athlete with long levers and a big fastball who's looking to harness his enormous potential this spring for the Reivers. He has committed to Ohio State for his junior season.

Jack Neely (2/4/18)

Formerly one of Illinois' top prospects, OF/1B Jason Hodges (Marist, 2019) didn't spend much time on campus in Faytetteville, AR before announcing his decision to make the move to the JUCO ranks back in his home state at John A. Logan JC. He stirred some draft interest during his senior year last spring, harboring some of the best raw power in the prep class. The key for him is to unlock that power at at the plate.

Jason Hodges (2/3/19)

One of Wisconsin's top prospects in its 2018 class, LHP Tanner Kohlhepp (Eau Claire Memorial) spent his freshman year at Tennessee before transferring to Iowa Western CC, where's he'll join the aforementioned Neely. Kohlhepp pitched four innings in Knoxville, Tenn., and is among the most notable transfers on the list below. He has committed to Notre Dame for his junior season.
