Donation From Prep Baseball Report Helps Vs. Cancer Support Families

Vs. Cancer, which helps athletes, teams and organizations raise money for kids with cancer, announced a donation from Prep Baseball Report and its members that will help ease the burden for numerous families with children who are fighting cancer.

PBR, a leader in both content and events around amateur baseball, set aside a portion of subscription sales throughout the month of September, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The donation will help scores of families with simple things like paying utility bills or paying for groceries, or paying for lodging while a child is in treatment. At the same time, part of the money will also fund high-level research in the fight against childhood cancers.

Vs. Cancer is a signature fundraising campaign of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and provides the tools for individuals and groups to raise money. Its emphasis has always been on athletes, and baseball in particular, because the program was founded by a University of North Carolina baseball player in 2013.

"It's an honor to contribute to such an important cause,” PBR President Sean Duncan said. “Vs. Cancer helps thousands of children and their families who are going through unimaginable pain and suffering. We are grateful for the foundation's hard work and effort in helping fight pediatric brain cancer."

Rachel Mark, the Director of Campaigns for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, said that contributions like this one from Prep Baseball Report are vital to the nonprofit’s mission.

“The children and families we serve rely heavily on the support of donors and fundraisers like PBR. We applaud their efforts and generous spirit,” she said. “On behalf of our foundation, and the 28,000 children and teens currently battling a brain tumor, thank you! With the support of this incredible organization, we’re fighting for healthier, happier futures.”

If you missed the opportunity to support Vs. Cancer through PBR in September, it’s not too late to contribute. Just go here for more information: https://team.curethekids.org/prep-baseball-report

Prep Baseball Report (prepbaseballreport.com) brings together baseball events and digital coverage in a combination unmatched by any other organization. PBR has more full-time scouts than any other independent amateur scouting company in the country, with a hyper-local focus augmented by national experts who focus on the top national prospects in all high school classes.

As the world’s leading nonprofit committed to children and teens with brain tumors, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (curethekids.org) has a simple mission: Care. Cure. Thrive. Donations to Vs. Cancer (vs-cancer.org) are divided evenly between local families and hospitals, and national pediatric brain tumor research.

No matter how big or small, your support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of families fighting cancer. At the local level, Vs. Cancer aims to give families less to worry about, so they can focus on the child’s care.

Nationally, contributions help to pay for research in the long-term fight against pediatric brain tumors. For example, Vs. Cancer is contributing $400,000 over three years to support a study at Duke University of immunotherapy for a specific type of brain tumor.
