Draft League Spotlight: Nick Zwack

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

Player: Nick Zwack
Position: LHP
School: Xavier

Dominant in his first start of the 2021 season at Texas A&M, Zwack is an elite competitor and a guy to keep an eye on moving forward this spring. He blanked the Aggies over five innings in Xavier’s 2-0 victory on Opening Weekend, allowing no hits and punching out eight. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound lefthander throws three pitches for strikes, including a low-90s fastball, a 79-81 mph slider and low-80s changeup. His top pitch is his four-seam fastball which he can ride the letters with its high spin. Combine that pitch with his above average slider and it’s easy to envision Zwack starting at the next level. The 2020 season ended before he ever had a chance to pitch in front of Midwest area scouts, throwing at Memphis, Ole Miss, College of Charleston and Long Beach State while going 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA and 28 punchouts in 23 1/3 innings. He has made himself a scouting priority when Xavier starts to play closer to home in late-March, as well as this summer in the MLB Draft League.
