Draft League Spotlight: Kenyon Yovan

Senior Prospect Analyst

Player: Kenyon Yovan
Position: 1B/RHP

School: Oregon

A two-time Draft pick who turned down Seattle (32nd round, 2016) out of high school and the Angels (27th, 2019) after his junior year at Oregon, Yovan is the only player in Ducks history to garner All-America honors as both a pitcher (2017 -- when he saved 15 games as a true freshman) and a hitter (‘20). Now hitting exclusively, Yovan is proving that his bat is for real. The 6-foot-2, 221-pounder has a short but quick right-handed swing, with the requisite bat speed needed to both turn around plus fastballs and generate triple-digit exit velocities. He’s aggressive but controls the zone well, showing extra discipline when behind in the count. While Yovan has made all but two of his starts in 2021 at designated hitter for the Ducks and currently lacks a true defensive home, his bat is strong enough to merit looks at all four corner spots at the next level.
