Draft League Spotlight: Max Ryerson

Mike Rosenbaum
Senior Prospect Analyst

Player: Max Ryerson
Position: OF/1B

School: Gulf Coast State

The Georgia State commit recently was named the Panhandle Conference Baseball Player of the Year after he batted .385 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI in 48 games for Gulf Coast State. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Ryerson is an imposing presence in the right-handed box and looks to do damage with every swing. His size and strength translate to plus bat speed, and he’s at his best when he’s trusting his quick hands. Ryerson’s path through the zone can get long and cause him to try to force contact, but he also does a good job controlling the zone and will shorten up his swing and look to use the entire field in two-strike counts. Ryerson’s offensive profile would fit well at either corner-outfield spot, and he could very well offer the caliber of production needed to profile as a first baseman should he eventually be forced down the defensive spectrum.
