Draft League Spotlight: Max Wright

A former Super 60 standout, Wright is a versatile athlete at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. He’s a physical backstop who is comfortable both behind the dish and roaming the outfield grass. With an average arm and solid receiving skills, Wright also adds some left-handed power to his overall prospect package. As a junior in 2019 he caught 57 games, including 30 in a row to close out the season during Indiana State’s NCAA Regional run. In total for the 2019 season, Wright played in 59 games, finishing with a .296 AVG, a .394 SLG% and a .380 OBP. He also fielded at a .988 clip and threw out 17 runners attempting to steal. So far in the 2021 season Wright is off to a .359/.519/.641 with three home runs and seven RBI as the cleanup hitter for the Sycamores.
