Draft League Spotlight: Paul McIntosh

Mike Rosenbaum
Senior Prospect Analyst

Player: Paul McIntosh
Position: C

School: West Virginia

McIntosh turned down the Angels as a 34th-round pick in 2018 out of Motlow State CC (Tenn.) to honor his commitment to WVU, where he hit 10 jacks as a sophomore en route to All-Big 12 Second Team honors. A physical specimen at 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, he has big right-handed raw power but also some length to his relatively flat swing that should get ironed out in the pro ranks. McIntosh has worked hard to improve behind the plate during his WVU career and has suitable arm strength for the position. While his blocking and receiving both leave something to be desired, McIntosh has the athleticism needed to make additional defensive gains at the position. His bat could profile at either outfield corner or first base should catching not work out for the Florida native.
