Draft League Spotlight: Tucker Mitchell

Mike Rosenbaum
Senior Prospect Analyst

Player: Tucker Mitchell
Position: C

School: State College of Florida

A transfer from Florida Atlantic, where he struggled in limited at-bats as a true freshman, Mitchell has thrived in his first Manatees campaign, slashing .382/.523/.657 with nine homers, 20 doubles and 55 RBI through 52 games. Listed at 6-feet, 210 pounds, Mitchell is a good athlete who runs well and has the type of strong, broad-shoulder frame that pro teams tend to covet. The N.C. State commit a good catch-and-throw backstop, combining agile footwork with an accurate arm to post average-or-better pop times. At the plate, Mitchell is short to the ball and gets excellent extension in his right-handed swing, employing an uphill path through the zone that yields hard, launched contact consistently. A high IQ player, Mitchell is patient in his approach and controls the zone well.
