Draft League Spotlight: Zion Pettigrew

Senior Prospect Analyst

Player: Zion Pettigrew
Position: 3B/2B

School: Illinois-Springfield

Now playing for his third program after previously transferring from Iowa to Kirkwood JC, Pettigrew is a former Super60 participant whom PBR ranked as the top prep shortstop in Illinois in 2017. While the pandemic wiped out Pettigrew’s hot start in ‘20, the Mount Carmel HS product has been even better this season, batting .473/.556/1.082 with 16 homers through 29 games. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Pettigrew has explosive bat speed and a penchant for driving balls with authority from the right side. He’s athletic up the middle, too, with fluid actions, great hands and easy 90-plus mph arm strength -- the combination of which gives him a bright future on the dirt.
