Fall Prospect Notes: Alabama

In a sport that is often short on patience, Brad Bohannon rode out the tough times. After two years that saw his team struggle and another that saw everyone’s season end, Alabama broke through last year with a regional appearance. This spring, Alabama finally has the kind of team that can compete, week-in, week-out in the brutal SEC.

Alabama lost three starters – all vital contributors as they won a pair of SEC Tournament games which undoubtedly boosted its postseason resume. Catcher Sam Praytor, second baseman Peyton Wilson and outfielder Jackson Tate have all moved on.

Offensively, Alabama will look to improve on last season’s .260 team batting average (12th in the SEC). New hitting coach Matt Reida returned to the Crimson Tide from Pittsburgh, where he served as the hitting coach for the Panthers last season. He was a volunteer assistant at Alabama in 2019-2020.
