Dallas Baptist is now in constant reload mode.

There was a time when the Patriots would have a great team, followed by some serious turnover that would take a couple of seasons to recover from. But times are now much different for Dan Heefner’s Patriots, and he could see the difference with his team’s fall workouts.

To give you an idea of what the Patriots have at their disposal from a pitching standpoint, consider this: DBU had 17 pitchers on its staff this fall touch 90 mph or better. Furthermore, the Pats had a whopping 11 pitchers who were 93 mph or better with their fastballs. And the best part? This isn’t old school DBU with a bunch of throwers. Most of those guys have stuff to go with the big-time velocity on the fastball.

Replacing guys like Dominic Hamel, Rhett Kouba and others won’t be easy, but it also isn’t impossible. Offensively, the Patriots are without Jackson Glenn and River Town, who each had terrific 2021 campaigns at the plate. But Jace Grady and others had huge falls at the plate, so there’s plenty of cautious optimism from an offensive standpoint. DBU also is excited about the addition of former Texas A&M standout and assistant coach Cliff Pennington, who brings Major League experience to offensive and defensive coaching.

DBU will reload, and on paper, this is a Top 25-caliber club. However, this program wants much more. They finished last season with 41 victories and won the series opener against Virginia in Super Regional action. In other words, they were a victory away from making their first trip to the College World Series.

Let’s dive into DBU’s fall workouts:
