Flower Mound vs. Plano West Scrimmage

Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

PLANO, TX - With warmer weather rolling into North Texas yesterday, we had the opportunity to see a the preseason No. 16 (Texas Power 25 Rankings) Flower Mound Jaguars in action against the Plano West Wolves.

Austin Wallace, LHP/OF, Flower Mound HS, 2019
Texas commit. Wallace has logged as many varsity innings as any junior in the state. The left-hander was stellar yesterday, with plus command of three pitches and a very surgical four inning outing. Working from a ¾ slot, Wallace located his fastball to both sides of the plate at 84-86 mph. The pitch has tailing action to his arm side, but he can also get it in to right-handed hitters. Curveball has 2/8 shape at 71-72 mph with sharp break. His changeup has good arm side fade at 72-74 mph. In his third and fourth innings of work, Wallace really started to carve up hitters, pitching backwards, throwing his curveball and changeup early in counts, then finishing them off with a hard inside fastball.
