On Wednesday, July 28, hundreds of the best uncommitted 2023 and 2024 prospects from around the county and Canada will descend on LakePoint Sports in Cartersville, Georgia for the 2021 PBR Future Games. Players are selected by the PBR staffs in their locality to form teams and hundreds of college coaches and pro scouts make the trip to the event.

Team Mid-Atlantic is made up of some of the best uncommitted prospects in Maryland, Delaware, DC, and Virginia. The position players will go through a pro workout on Wednesday to take all metrics and video, and then the team will play one game a day, Thursday-Saturday. In the lead-up to the event, we will spotlight the players that are heading to Georgia to play for Team Mid-Atlantic

SCOUTING REPORT

5/18/21

VA/DC Scout Blog

Costello is 6-0 with a lanky athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose very quick arm action normal to easier effort to his delivery. Has some crossfire to his delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with some fall off in his finish. Fastball was 82-85, with a good angle and some late sink to it. Showed feel for three distinct offspeed pitches, a slider with with late hard sweeping 2/8 break and good armspeed at 74-77, easily his best offering, not afraid to back foot it to a righty, can throw for strikes or bury. Also shows a curveball with sharp 1/7 break and good armspeed at 70-71 and a promising change-up with good armspeed and late hard fade that was 74-75. Shows control of his pitches and flashes command, had a few bouts of wildness in the later innings, but threw the ball where he wanted to regardless of count or pitch in the first two innings. Held his velocity, was still 83-84 in the fourth inning and still grabbed a few 85s. Showed the ability to get strikeouts with his fastball and his slider, change-up has a chance as well and generated some bad swings.
