HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – It was a #PBRBombSquad type of afternoon at the beach on 2/27/19. Riverside Poly (4-5-1) jumped out to an early lead off an opposite-field solo home run by its star recruit first baseman Connor Timko (UCSB) in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately, that was the only offense provided for the Bears on the day, as they fell 12-1 to the Oilers. Dylan Ramirez (CSUSM) led things off on the mound working four innings, allowing one hit and one run, striking out four. Nick Darling took the mound for the Bears hurling four innings, giving up five runs on six hits, punching out four. It was all offense as Huntington Beach (5-1) put its foot on the gas pedal and hit three home runs of their own. Brett Barrera (Stanford) #1, Josh Hahn (UCLA) #4 and Shane Stafford (SDSU) #1 all hit round-trippers with Stafford's of the grand slam variety.
