Glasgow Lead Myers Park Past Ardrey Kell

Myers Park 5     Ardrey Kell 2

Game Recap:
A chilly night at Ardrey Kell HS saw two teams, each playing just their 2nd game of the season, with high aspirations for the 2019 seasons, face off. Myers Park rode a strong start from 2019 RHP Wilson Glasgow, and key hits late in the game to down the host Knights 5-2.

The Mustangs got to AK ace Trey Tujetsch early when Pres Cavenaugh (OF, 2019) took a breaking ball out over the right field wall for a 1-0 lead. Glasgow settled in quickly, working efficiently throughout his 5 innings of work. When Ardrey Kell was able to apply a little pressure, Glasgow turned to his change-up, creating 12 swings and misses with the pitch, 8 through the order the first time.

In the 6th, Myers Park turned to its bullpen and the Knights worked to take advantage while down 2-0. Zach Weston (SS, 2019) singled to right and was followed by a double from Peter Gullo (C, 2019). With runners on 2nd and 3rd, with no outs, Weston would score on a balk. The next pitch Tujetsch squeezed home the tying run. The squeeze did allow for the initial out in the inning and settled Mustangs relief pitcher Matthew Hunter. Hunter retired 6 of the last 7 hitters faced, including the squeeze play that tied the game.

In the 7th, the Mustangs got things started with single from Jack Shaw, followed by two walks to load the bases. Preston Hall (3B, 2020) worked to stay on ball away with 2 strikes, singling to left field, scoring Shaw and Cavenaugh. James Hobbs (2B, 2020) followed with a SAC Fly to right, scoring Patrick Alvarez (SS, 2019) with the Mustangs 5th run.
