Hatcher's Hotlist Vol. 5

Cayden Hatcher
PBR Florida Assistant Scouting Director

Hatcher’s Hotlist is a weekly segment that covers a handful of standouts from around the state of Florida. I will travel around the state covering high school and junior college baseball games and compiling a “hotlist”.

Take a look at my 5 standouts from the past seven days featuring an MLB Draft Prospect, an 8th grader up to 91, and an uncommitted strike-throwing RHP up to 89. Two uncommitted bats that stood out as well deserve a look.

2022 Sullivan Brackin, OF/RHP, Bolles

College of Charleston Recruit. Strong, XL frame, 6-foot-5, 225 lbs. The second time on the hotlist for Brackin, this time around is on the bump and it was a good one as Brackin probably turned in the best outing of his career. Brackin is known for his plus power at the plate but that strength seems to transition well to the mound as Brackin got his Fastball up to 93 mph. What stood out to me was the ability to throw the breaking ball with consistent shape to the glove side for swing and misses in the low 80s. Year to date, Brackin has gotten his lower half involved on the mound and really driving towards his target. The mechanical clean-up with overall strength and development explains the velo jump for Brackin. The frame, natural power at the dish, and some velocity on the bump make Brackin an interesting name for this year's draft. Good get for the College of Charleston if he makes it to campus.
