Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

The postseason is underway in warm weather states and there was no shortage of drama in Louisiana over the weekend. After leading his squad to its first 2A state title in school history last season, C Ethan Frey (Rosepine HS, LA) helped the Eagles to another. The Louisiana State recruit went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in a dominant 14-0 semifinal victory. The home run was his 13th of the year. Frey took the mound in the state championship, going five innings and giving up just one hit while striking out eight. He attacked hitters with a fastball up to 94, sitting 88-92, while mixing in a quality slider at 74-78. He also collected four RBIs, bringing his season total to 64. He went 1-for-2 with a triple at the plate. For his efforts, Frey was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player for the second straight year.
