Illinois & Wisconsin D-I Recruiting Classes: Big Ten

By Andy Sroka
Illinois and Wisconsin Assistant Director

This month, our Illinois and Wisconsin staffs have collaborated to break down the 2021 players and their post-high school destinations, now that they’re preparing for the final springs of their prep careers.

The signing period opened on Nov. 11, so we’re well into monitoring this senior class make   formal commitments to their next-level homes. We began breaking down both states’ 2021 classes earlier in the week, assessing the 11 Division-I programs in Illinois and Wisconsin and the entirety of the players headed in their direction.

Now, we’re looking beyond the Illinois and Wisconsin borders, peeking at the prospects in our backyard headed outside the two states to play elsewhere. We’re starting that conference-by-conference outlook today with the region’s historic Big Ten Conference. Our national colleagues, Nathan Rode and Shooter Hunt, evaluated the conference previously as a whole in this post, weighing each program’s pre-draft anxiety prior to next fall. Our post below will focus solely on the Illinois and Wisconsin names we’ve come to know since they first landed on our radar.

The 2021 incomings headed to these prominent schools are divvied up roughly as expected. The Illini obviously did well to capture several of the top players in their home state, and Northwestern landed a top Chicagoland area prospect as well. We’ll highlight both Illinois programs, in addition to the others below.
