No.1 Mount Carmel 5, Glenbard East 2
Glenbard East (2-1) grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the third, on the defending Class 4A Champion Caravan at Chicago State on Sunday. Tyler Behrendt singled home Tommy Magovero and the Rams were up two as the game went to the bottom of the third. The defending champs responded by scoring three times in the third. Dave Dobrinch tied the game at 2-2 when he hammered a game-tying triple and would score the eventual game-winning run on Malik Carpenter’s ground out. The Caravan scored a pair in the fifth on an AJ Lewis RBI single and a sac-fly from Nick Wheeler. Mount Carmel (3-0) starting and winning LHP Rich Fordan (1-0) allowed two unearned runs and four hits in his game-winning five-inning performance.

No 4 St. Rita 3, Marist 2
St. Rita (6-0) and Marist put on an early-show for the fans on early Sunday morning. The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on an RBI single from Jake Shepski in the top of the first and an unearned run in the top of the fifth. Marist tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth picking up a couple of unearned runs. In the top of the seventh Tyler Halas led off the inning with a double to left, went to third on a sac-bunt from Jake Drada and scored on a line-shot single to center by Nick Goldsmith. Jake Shepski struck out the first two Redhawk hitters in the seventh and retired the third and final out of the game on a foul out.  RHP Shepski and Mustang starting LHP pitcher CJ Santoyo combined on a one-hitter. Santoyo allowed a hit and an unearned run in his four innings of work while Shepski retired all nine Redhawk batters he faced, striking out four of them to pick up the win.

Sunday's abbreviated roundup also has reports on: St. Rita's win over Benet; Mount Carmel's win over Lincoln-Way East, Batavia's season-opening win over Benet, Whitney Young over Evanston, LWE over Glenbard East.
