SHOCKERS OF THE DAY

Salem (15-9) surprised No. 7 Alton 4-3 in Salem on Wednesday. Coleton Harness slammed the door on the Alton, in the top of the seventh to nail down the save for Salem starting and winning pitcher Riley Martin. Martin  allowed one earned run  and three hits in his stellar five innings of work to pick up the win. Martin struck out 11 Redbird batters. Harness singled and drove home a Wildcat run . Alton falls to 25-5 on the season.

Plainfield East (16-10, 9-8 Southwest Prairie) blanked No.13 Plainfield North (21-7, 13-4 Southwest Prairie) behind a four-hit shutout from Mitch Koran 4-0.
Drew DeMumbrum had three hits including a double and drove home the only run Koran would need. Joey Antonopoulos also doubled and had an RBI, while Eddie Marcotte chipped in with a single and a Bengal RBI.
