In their seventh trip to the NJCAA World Series in program history, the McLennan Highlanders are headed back to Waco as Division I champions – their first championship since their 1983 run.

This time around, McLennan trampled through the Grand Junction gauntlet boasting a balanced attack of firepower from both the lineup and the starting staff. McLennan scored 55 runs in its five World Series games, and go-to ace RHP Logan Henderson (Cinco Ranch, TX / Texas A&M commit) was named to the All-Tournament team. Most notably, Henderson was tasked with taking on Central Arizona College in the title game, and he answered the call, striking out 17 batters in eight innings and allowing just one run.

In that game, after a scoreless top of the eighth authored by Henderson, the Highlanders’ bats finally exploded, as C Dominic Tamez (Ladybird Johnson, TX) fourth hit of the game, a triple, scored a pair of runs to make it a 4-1 ballgame. C/1B Alex Lopez (Lamar, TX) and OF Jaylen Williams (Stony Point, TX) recorded back-to-back doubles to tack on two more, and an error made it  7-1 headed into the ninth. CAC rallied for two runs, but McLennan secured the remaining three outs to claim the title. INF Mason Greer (Colleyville Heritage, TX), INF Miguel Santos (Centennial, TX), and DH/OF Blake Jackson (Coppell, TX) each earned spots on the all-tourney team, alongside their teammate Henderson.

Prior to McLennan’s championship-clinching win against CAC, the Highlanders trounced Crowder College, clung to their slugfest wins over San Jacinto and Indian Hills, and opened the tournament with a 7-0 win against Flo-Dar Tech.

They only added to their win streak in Grand Junction, winning their last 23 games, having not lost since mid-April.

After seven days of games at Junction, some prospects of note:
