Kentucky Draft Preview

The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Kentucky has consistently produced quality arms the last few years with RHP Micah Miniard going in the eighth round last year, RHP Clinton Hollon and LHP Hunter Green getting picked in the second round in 2013. RHP Walker Buehler was a prospect out of high school and was picked in the 14th round of the 2012 draft. He ended up at Vanderbilt where he has turned into an early round prospect, with some projecting him as a first-round pick. Another arm is at the forefront of Kentucky’s class in 2015, though it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll end up on campus or in pro ball.

Top Prospects

1. Riley Thompson, RHP, Christian Academy, KY
Thompson has a good, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds and ranged from 90-94 with his fastball this spring.
