PORTAGE - The top-ranked baseball player in the country in the 2021 class has made a college decision.

LSU, owner of six national titles and an 18-time College World Series participant, is the choice for Luke Leto.

“I took a visit a year ago spring break and later took another visit,” explained the Portage Central sophomore-to-be. “We kept talking and have been talking until I committed. I’ve just been waiting to make sure it was the right choice and the favorite place I’ve been to.”

Michigan, Clemson, South Carolina, Florida, Arizona and Arizona State were others that the 6-2 175-pounder had visited, but LSU proved to be what Leto desired.

“I checked all the boxes,” Leto said. “The stadium, the campus, it had a real tiger on campus, the baseball atmosphere, and the facilities are so nice.

“My dad and I have been thinking about it and there’s really no downfall. The good thing is it takes weight off my shoulders. But there’s a lot I still have to accomplish.”

Committing to a prestigious baseball school like LSU brings a lot of satisfaction to Leto.
