Leiter Flirts With Perfection

Nathan Rode

MONTVILLE, NJ—RHP Jack Leiter (Delbarton School, NJ) looked like he had something to prove Saturday, facing West Morris Central in the Morris County Championship. Aside from the fact that he carried a perfect game until two outs in the seventh inning and struck out 14, Leiter put his best stuff on display in front of a large crowd of scouts and a wall of fans that circled the entire field at Montville HS, NJ. He was 94-97 mph in the first inning, touching 98 in the third and still bumping 96 in the sixth. He didn’t throw a fastball below 92 until two outs in the seventh.
