Litsch's Lookback: Week 6

Jesse Litsch
Florida Scouting Director

Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. The entire PBR Florida staff and myself will be out for coverage at High School, JUCO, and NCAA baseball games each week. We will highlight the biggest standouts from the games we saw that week.

This past week we had JUCO coverage in Clearwater and Miami. We also had high school coverage all over the state from Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, and Bradenton. Take a look at the players who stood out to myself and the rest of our staff this past week.

2021 Alden Segui, RHP, Jesuit

The North Carolina commit is one of the most intriguing arms I’ve seen thus far. Shows very solid and repeatable mechanics and knows how to pitch. He pounds the zone with a heavy cutting fastball and a wipeout slider. He ran the fastball up to 95 and had great mound presence.

2021 Dominic Castellano, LHP, Jesuit

The Central Florida commit started the game versus Bartow and threw great. He pounded the zone to both sides of the plate and kept hitters off balance and guessing. He gets good late life on his fastball which mixes very well with his off speed stuff. Repeatable mechanics with a live loose arm.

2021 Jonathan Vastine, SS, Bartow

The Vanderbilt commit has a great approach in the box. He sprayed the ball to all fields and used his speed to make things happen. He was not afraid to hit with 2 strikes with great barrel control. He shined defensively as well making multiple plays at shortstop.
