The Maryland High School Scouting Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the PBR Staff. This running blog will feature information on a wide variety of uncommitted talent as well as updates on committed and ranked players, as well as draft prospect. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocity, pop times, home to first times, and more. This running blog is continuously updated throughout the high school season and then also throughout the year and you will see what boots-to-the-ground really means.

State Scout blogs are one of the most highly viewed pages on the PBR website. It is a tribute to our never ending quest of discovering talent across our area of coverage and our boots-to-the-ground approach to scouting.

McDonogh

Everett Cooper SS McDonogh 2022 (Alabama)

Extremely athletic switch-hitting middle infielder. Starts pretty similarly from both sides of the plate in a balanced, slightly crouched, open stance. Small leg kick and cocks hands some from the left side good some separation. Short to the ball with a slightly uphill swing path. Great extension and two-handed finish. Higher leg kick load from the right side with the same more uphill swing path. Stays behind the ball well and showed quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone. Does a really nice job with his head and stays on the ball well through contact. Went 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a single, a double, a walk, a stolen base, and scored two runs. Exciting player to watch at the plate with electric speed down the line and on the base paths. Works through the ball at shortstop with active feet and smooth, clean actions. Fields the ball out in front funneling to the chest and squares shoulders early to the target at first base. High motor in the field with range and also showed a smooth double play feed to second base and quick, clean transfers.

Throws with shorter arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot. Gets down hard off the rubber in delivery with an athletic, complete finish over his front side.

Gets to a compact balance point with a smooth kick out delivery down the mound. Lands square to the plate throwing with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Gilman

Casey Bishop SS Gilman 2021 (Towson)

Athletic body type and hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate. Short to the ball with a more level swing path. Stays on the ball well and made good adjustments throughout the game. Good balance throughout the swing and went 1-for-2 with a base-hit, a walk, and a sac-fly to drive in a run. Did a really nice job staying back on an off-speed pitch in his first at-bat driving it hard back up the middle for a single. Plays loose in the field with quick feet and works through the ball fielding it out in front from an athletic base. Presents the glove early and showed quick, clean exchanges on double play feeds.

Danny Rosenfield LHP Gilman 2020 (Davidson)
Tall, lanky, athletic south-paw. Started the game on the mound for Gilman in their game against MIAA foe McDonogh. Went five innings strong and picked up the win. Allowed one run on three hits, one walk, and struck out six along the way. Pounded the one all afternoon with an 82-83 mph fastball that showed plus arm-side run. Also mixed in a tight 11/5 breaking ball at 67-70 mph keeping hitters off balance. Short, side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a compact balance point. Smooth, fluid stride and delivery. Long, loose arm action throwing form a mid three-quarter slot with easy effort. Repeats his mechanics well and also did a nice job fielding his position.
