TJ Painter, LHP, Pleasant Plains, 2018
6-foot-2, 165-pound, athletically built, well-proportioned, left-handed pitcher. Started on the mound for the Cardinals. Threw two innings, of hitless baseball and struck out three. Clean delivery, repeatable, works on-line with smooth rhythm and easy effort throughout. Worked mostly with a fastball/curveball combination in game; commanded the zone with both. Fastball worked both sides of the plate, arm-side-run, sat 77-80 mph. Curveball, threw it in any count, 1/7 shape, depth, sat 64-66. Threw a slider mostly in warmups, distinct 10/4 shape.

Giuseppe Mattera, LHP, Pleasant Plains, 2018
6-foot, 156-pound, athletically built, live-bodied, left-handed pitcher. Came out of the bullpen and worked one-inning of hitless baseball, striking out two. Delivery works on-line, front foot lands closed at times. Clean, quick arm stroke out of a high ¾ slot. Flashed a swing and miss curveball, good feel, mostly 1/7 shape at 72-74 mph. One of his strikeouts came on a backfoot, sharp sweeping curveball to a right-handed hitter. Fastball jumps out of the hand, flashed arm-side-run at times, 85-87 mph.
