D1 NJCAA World Series - Grand Junction, CO

Day 3 - May 28

Game 8: Walters State (TN) - 14 vs. Jefferson (MO)  - 9

Walters State triumphs behind a strong 16 hit performance by the offense to send Jefferson into the losers bracket. The final score was 14-9. Joey Polak continues to show big power for Jefferson, slamming his 32 HR of the season and had #33 robbed by Walters State RF Tyler Gentry. Walters State next plays San Jac in a contest of unbeaten teams, while Jefferson matches up against Monroe (NY)

Game 9: Chipola (FL) - 17 vs. Temple (TX) - 5

Temple, a team that wasn't even supposed to be in the Juco World Series, was eliminated today by a 5 inning rule score of 17-5. Temple got in by Cisco JC and McLennan CC being disqualified due to a benches clearing incident in the qualifying game. Chipola had a huge offensive performance led by a 4-for-4 day by Chipola CF Edmond Americaan. One of his hits was a HR, his second of the tournament. Chipola next plays Iowa Western
while Temple finished it's season with a record of 36-25.

Game 10: Southern Idaho - 4 vs. Iowa Western - 2

The star of the game for this battle of unbeatens was College of Southern Idaho's starting pitcher Sophomore Mason Foltz from Pocatello, Id. He took a no hitter into the 4th, and proceeded to pitch into the 9th before being relieved. He kept the Reivers hitters off balance all night with a mix of velocities and arm slots. A true masterpiece of a pitching performance. CSI triumphed 4-2 to advance to the feature game on Wednesday night, while Iowa Western drops into the losers bracket to face Chipola.
