NPI: 2024 Breakdown

Shooter Hunt
Vice President, Scouting

The annual National Program Invitational, at Lakepoint, brings together elite programs from across the country to perform in four different age groups. An elite stage to kickoff the summer, the NPI is a one-stop-shop for college coaches and professional scouts, alike, to see the top prep talent in the country. The teams and players more than delivered to make the 2021 NPI another stellar experience with energy flowing through the facility from the first pitch on Thursday morning through the last on Sunday night. Below, a look at 25 players in the 2024 class that made an impact on Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt’s, while at Lakepoint.

Ty Southisene SS / RHP / Basic , NV / 2024

After leading his team to a state championship in Nevada, Southisene showed no sign of slowing down, and cemented his status as one of the top players in the country in the 2024 class with an outstanding showing at the NPI. Playing much bigger than his 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame would let on, the newly committed shortstop is one of the most exciting players in the country, and utilizes electric hands and bat speed from the right side to drive the ball from gap-to-gap. A handsier load works in sync with a bigger leg kick that hangs, and while there is a lot going on in the pre-pitch approach, the ability to manipulate the barrel, and especially to pull the hands in and drive the ball to the back side gap, stands out right now. Southisene was a must-watch every time he stepped to the plate, and only his energy could outshine the tools as he busted out of the box with each swing destined to push a double into a triple. A persistent threat on the bases thanks to his 6.7-speed, that quickness carries over to shortstop where he holds supreme confidence in his hands, and especially the glove-to-hand ability with throws being made from all angles. Overall, the recently uncommitted Southisene, who will be part of Team Nevada at the PBR Future Games, is sure to have a plethora of coaches following him closely moving forward.
