Andy Urban
Oklahoma Scouting Director

Day 1 of the Oklahoma Limited Series in Tulsa featured a plethora of talent from all over the Midwest. Players from Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Wisconsin all stepped on the field at Broken Arrow University to showoff their talents in front of a host of college recruiters. Below are some notes from the four games that took place at Broken Arrow:

Sandlot Russell 6 Fox Valley 11

Fox Valley

Cameron Dupont C / 1B / West De Pere, WI / 2020

A long 6-foot-2, 188-pound frame with some wiry strength and room to add more. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet and open set-up with a slight crouch. Uses big and controlled leg lift with a hand load before launching them on a slightly uphill path with bat speed and leverage. In the game, put a couple really good swings on balls including a scorched line drive at the shortstop and a towering three run home run to left. Defensively, he shows a strong and accurate arm with carry from behind the dish with 2.05-2.13 between innings pop times.

Will Semb SS / RHP / DePere, WI / 2020

A 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. The right-handed hitter bats from a balanced set-up with a slight squat and slight rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate and controlled leg kick before launching his hands on a short path to contact and some natural lift. In the game, showed a patient approach at the plate drawing two free passes to go along with a single, and was robbed of a double to left field on a well stuck ball. Defensively, shows above average hands and feet with and advanced arm strength with accuracy when he needs it.

Parker White RHP / Hortonville, WI / 2020

A long and projectable frame around 6-foot-3, 170-pounds. The right-handers works from an average tempo with a drop and drive delivery. Arm action is long and loose in the back coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sat 81-83 mph with arm-side run. Curveball had rolling shape at 63-64 mph. He never quite got comfortable and left some pitches up in his outing, but showed he could throw strikes walking one and striking out three in 2.1. Plenty of vello left in the tank as he continues to add strength and lean to control his long limbs.

Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and wide set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and short stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with bat speed and some strength. Though he did not have a hit to show for his efforts in this one, he dove outfielders back to the track with barreled up balls, twice. Defensively, shows a big range in the outfield with closing speed.

The right-hander works from an average tempo delivery with a rhythm and a high leg kick before gliding down the mound and finishing to the first base side. Arm action is long and loose in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball ranged 79-81 and touched 82, mostly strikes. Curveball has big rolling action with 11/5 shape. Stood out defensively as well showing a high baseball IQ at shortstop and cutting down a runner at the plate in the last inning to preserve a one run lead.

Shea McGahan C / 2B / Lindbergh , MO / 2021

The Missouri commit has a  5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with some strength. Though Shea is no slouch with the bat, it was his defense behind the plate that had him standing out in a big way. Cangelosi Sparks 5 Perfect Timing 3

Cangelosi Sparks

Austin Greco RHP / OF / Mundelein, IL / 2020

A 5-foot-10, 165-pound developing frame with quick twitch actions. Offensively, the right-handed bats from a back leg heavy and slightly knock-knee knock set-up with rhythm in deep staring hands. Uses a moderate leg kick before launching his hands with some quickness on a flat path through extension. In the game, went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. A good position player, Greco’s future might be brighter on the mound as he worked from an average tempo delivery with a long and fluid arm swing coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sat 87-89 with some late arm side run. In the game, tossed 1.1 innings with two punchouts and a walk.

Jack Crowder 1B / RHP / Plainfield East, IL / 2020

Fastball sat 86-87 mph with some lift. Changeup has some fade at 80 mph. Also flashed a breaking ball. Didn’t put up his best stat line, but it’s easy to see why the Illini committed the physical righty.

Perfect Timing

Luke Davenport RHP / 3B / Fayetteville, AR / 2020

A 5-foot-11, 195-pound durable frame with strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a narrow, open, and slightly knock-kneed set-up with rhythm in his hands. The young 2019 grad has a 6-foot, 185-pound frame with some strength. Stat line of  six innings with nine hits, three strikeouts, and three walks is a little misleading, as Templeton struggled a bit in the first and then held down a very talented offense for five scoreless innings. As he went Templeton's velo rose to 83-84 and touched an 85 with some arm side run. Slider showed late 10/4 shape, thrown with full arm speed at 74-76 mph. The right-hander worked from a slightly uptempo delivery with a full arm circle coming through a low-¾ slot with some arm speed.
