Anthony Wayne at Defiance - 4/13/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Ty Roder RHP / OF / Anthony Wayne, OH / 2021

Report: In his first varsity outing, the 6-1, 180-pound righty didn't disappoint. Athletic body frame. Showed a repeatable delivery with good rhythm and tempo. Good arm speed through a 3/4 slot. Long, loose arm action that has the makings of increased velo coming. Jumped from 75-78 in June, 2018, to 82-84 in April, 2019. A definite arm to follow up on.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
82-84, touching 85 mph with some arm-side run when thrown down in the zone.

Curveball: 66-67 with 11/5 break. Good spin rate and depth. Has the makings of a good CB.

Changeup: The change sat 68-68 with similar arm speed as the fastball. Showed some arm-side run.

Game Performance: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Strongsville/NDCL/Toledo St. Francis de Sales - 4/13/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Jack Frank OF / OF / Strongsville, OH / 2019

Report: Michigan State commit/one of the top draft prospects in the state’s ‘19 class. Dynamic prospect with 5 tool potential. 6.5 runner that is a threat to leave the yard every time he steps up to the plate, can play center field and has 92 mph arm strength while doing so. Showed the entire arsenal on this day with the hit tool showing up the loudest. Barrelled up everything with even his misses coming off the bat hot. Explosive swing that plays to all fields.

Game Performance: 5-8, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI

Kenton at Defiance - 4/12/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Jacob Howard LHP / OF / Defiance, OH / 2022

Report: 5-8, 152-pound small, athletic frame. Long arm action out of a high-3/4 slot. Tall/fall mechanics on the hill. Intriguing 2022 lefty to take note of. Two-way prospect, who shows a good bat as an outfielder.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
74-77, touching 78 mph with some arm-side run. Worked down in the zone well.

Curveball: 63-64 big, loopy action. 1/7 shape. Confident in the pitch.

Changeup: 67-68 with similar arm speed and arm-side run as the fastball.

Game Performance: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K

Bloom-Carroll vs Hamilton - 4/10/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

CJ Carmichael SS / RHP / Bloom Carroll, OH / 2022

Report: Gets the run out for Bloom Carroll at shortstop as a freshman and for good reason. Rangy defender with fluid actions and advanced ball skills for class. Didn’t get much action his way in game but showed the ability to make all the plays in pregame and make them pretty routinely. Mid-80s arm across the infield that plays on the left side and projects for more strength. At the plate his swing works well with synced up movements that create both balance and separation at foot strike. Gets on plane early, allowing him to create a large margin for error in timing. Combination of efficient path and his excellent feel for the barrel allow him to square up the ball frequently. Showed the ability to lift the ball in game. CF ran down two of his well struck balls that in a few years, with some added strength you could easily see getting into the gaps/leaving the yard. Looks to be an above average runner, 6.8 ish type that I got at a 4.52 on the turn. Very talented, well-rounded prospect with a bright future.

Kalida vs Ottoville - 4/9/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Josh Thorbahn LHP / Ottoville, OH / 2021

Report: Intriguing 6-5, 190-pound southpaw. Projectable arm with very athletic frame. Long legs and a loose arm. Lanky frame. Also a top basketball prospect in the state. Has a chance to be a very good arm with added work on the hill.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
The fastball shows some run to it. Looks to get on the hitters faster than the 77-80 mph range would suggest. Topped at 81 mph on the day. Much more velo in there with some mechanical adjustments.

Curveball: The breaker showed good 1/7 shape that when thrown with conviction, showed good depth and sharpness. When on top of the pitch, it plays. 66-70 mph.

Changeup: Changeup comes from similar arm slot as the fastball, while coming in at 67-68 mph. Shows arm side run on the change

Game Performance: 4 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 K

Archbold vs Bryan - 4/8/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Rigo Ramos LHP / 1B / Archbold, OH / 2019

Report: 6-5, 175-pound southpaw. Projectable arm with athletic frame. Long limbed with funky/deceptive delivery. High 3/4 arm slot. A crossfire guy that creates tough angles for hitters with his length and slot. BGSU commit

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
The fastball sat 83-85 mph, working downhill with regular cut action. The pitch gets on top of hitters better than the velo suggests. The opposing dugout were thinking it was coming in much faster, in conversations I heard while in the dugout.

Curveball: The breaking ball, while working off the fastball was an outstanding combination. The breaker is a sharp, slurvish type offering that he has good feel for in the mid-70s.

Game Performance: 6 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 14 K
